Apple May Open Second Bengaluru Store as Hiring Spree Points to Whitefield Expansion

Apple appears to be stepping up its retail expansion in India, with fresh hiring activity pointing towards a possible second store in Bengaluru. New job listings on Apple's careers portal under the tag "Bengaluru East" have triggered speculation that the company is preparing for another retail outlet in the city, likely in the Whitefield-Mahadevapura corridor.

The openings include customer-facing roles, technical specialists and leadership positions, indicating preparations for a full-fledged Apple Store. Industry watchers believe the outlet could come up at Phoenix Marketcity, one of east Bengaluru's busiest malls located in a major IT and residential hub.

The move reflects Apple's growing focus on India as one of its most important global markets. Bengaluru, with its large base of tech professionals and premium consumers, continues to remain a key city for the company's retail strategy.

The hiring activity in Bengaluru comes shortly after Apple announced plans for expansion in other Indian cities. The company has already confirmed a second store in Mumbai, expected to be located in Borivali, along with another outlet for Delhi NCR in Noida. Similar recruitment activity was also seen in Hyderabad earlier this year, suggesting Apple is preparing to open its first retail store in the city as well.

Based on current indications, Apple's Hyderabad store could open by the end of 2026, while the second Bengaluru outlet is expected sometime in early 2027 if timelines remain on track.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly highlighted India's growing importance to the company. During a recent earnings call, Cook described India as a "huge opportunity" and said he was "over the moon excited" about the market.

"I think it's a huge opportunity for us. We've been focused on this for a while. It's the second largest smartphone market in the world and the third largest PC market," Cook said.

He also noted that Apple has continued to see strong growth in India across product categories including iPhone, Mac and iPad.

"It has been wonderful to see how we've continued to grow in India in recent years, part of our larger efforts to connect with even more customers in emerging markets all over the world," he added.

Apple's expanding retail footprint across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Hyderabad underlines the company's long-term plans for India. Apart from sales growth, the country is increasingly becoming important for Apple's manufacturing and supply chain operations as well.

The latest hiring push in Bengaluru suggests Apple is steadily moving ahead with its strategy to strengthen direct retail presence in India's largest urban markets.
