Appalling! Minor Gang-raped In Karnataka's Tumkur

A heinous crime of gang rape was reported on Thursday from Karnataka's Tumkur district. According to the reports, a minor girl who went to attend the Siddaganga Matha fair was allegedly gang-raped by three men, who also recorded the terrifying act on their mobile.

The reports said the perpetrators first recorded the girl sitting with her boyfriend and blackmailed her stating they would release it on the internet if she didn't comply with their demand.

However, the girl refused to keep quiet and filed the complaint at Tumkur Women's Police Station. Reacting swiftly, the police complained the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and apprehended 3 accused, and the investigation in now underway.

Police identified the accused as Amogh, Hanumant, and Pratap, all residents of Bandepalaya.

Earlier on February 28, in another case, an auto driver allegedly raped and murdered a woman in Bengaluru's Shantinagar area. As per the police reports, a 38-year-old auto driver identified as Mubarak Khan picked up the victim in his auto and allegedly took her to an isolated under-constructed building where the brutal crime happened. Later, the accused pushed the girl from the top of the building which resulted in her death.

After being informed, police rushed to the spot, where the officials found the dead body of the alleged rape victim. Later, the police lodged a complaint and initiated the investigation to nab the accused.

With the help of the CCTV cameras installed near the crime spot, the police identified the accused auto-driver and detained him. In the grilling, the accused reportedly confessed his crime of raping a woman.

The police had lodged the case under IPC sections 376 (Punishment for rape) and 302 (murder).

Talking to the media, a senior Bengaluru police officer said, "The accused did not know any details of her. He picked her up as a customer with all consent and things only changed when he took her to the under-constructed building."
