Alert driver averts tragedy, close shave for 50 Bengaluru kids

Fire was noticed in one of the buses ferrying 50 students by the driver when they stopped at Channapatna enroute

Presence of mind of an alert driver saved the lives of 50 school children on a bus that caught fire accidentally. The bus was reduced to cinder while the children were taken to safety thanks to the timely intervention of the bus driver.

Over 300 students of BEL school, Jalahalli in Bengaluru, along with staff were on their way to Srirangapatna for an excursion on Saturday morning. Fire was noticed in one of the buses ferrying 50 students by the driver when they stopped at Channapatna enroute. The driver and the staff evacuated the children from the bus immediately and took them to safety.

While no casualties were reported, three children suffered minor injuries as the fire spread fast. A case has been taken up in this regard.
