Actor Darshan's Two US Pistols Seized Amidst Renuka Swamy Murder Case
An intriguing development has emerged in the ongoing Renuka Swamy murder case involving actor Darshan and his associate Pradosh. Both individuals are currently incarcerated, accused of their involvement in the crime. It has come to light that despite possessing licensed pistols, Darshan and Pradosh did not adhere to the mandatory requirement of depositing their firearms with the police during the Lok Sabha Election 2024, according to reports.
Darshan reportedly owns two US-manufactured pistols, while Pradosh possesses one licensed pistol. During the electoral period, all licensed firearm holders were obligated to surrender their weapons to law enforcement. However, Darshan and Pradosh were among the 277 individuals across Bengaluru who were granted exemptions from this requirement. The remaining 7,553 licensed firearms were duly deposited with the police.

According to media reports, the exemption granted to Darshan and Pradosh was authorised directly by the Bangalore Police Commissioner, B. Dayananda, who chaired the Arms Deposit Screening Committee. This exemption is typically reserved for senior officials, retired judges, IAS and IPS officers, bank managers, government officials, sports shooters, legislators, and council members.
In response to the oversight, directives have been issued to the Girinagar police station for Pradosh and the RR Nagar police station for Darshan to initiate the confiscation of their weapons. The move is seen as a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the murder case.
