AAP Karnataka membership drive gets big response
Bangalore, Jan 13: The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) membership drive in Karnataka on Sunday received a huge response in the coastal areas of the state as people made beelines for registering their names to join the party, said a DNA report.
In Mangalore, over 900 people enrolled in just a three-hour drive, raising the total membership to 2,000. The number is expected to go up to 5,000, the report quoted the AAP area district coordinator Dharmendra as saying.
Sources in AAP Karnataka said the final data was yet to be collated and the final picture about the membership gathered from all over the district will be released on January 26, Dharmendra said.
In other districts
Coorg: AAP coordinator of Madikeri district Thimmiah Madithiri said 1,100 memberships have been received at Madikeri city so far, the DNA report said. He also said that the total membership in Kodagu is expected to touch 3,000.
Over 900 people registered for the AAP in Mangalore alone
Udupi: AAP's Udupi district coordinator Yathish Kumar Katpady said the party received over 1,000 memberships in a drive which is continuing for the past couple of weeks, the report said. Katpady added that the online registration was yet to be looked into.
Uttar Kannada: The membership of the AAP in Karwar assembly constituency has gone up to 700. The party is confident of getting 6,000 memberships in the district, the report said.
