700 Km Pune–Bengaluru Expressway Project Set to Cut Road Journey to 7 Hours

The long-awaited Pune-Bengaluru greenfield expressway is finally moving closer to reality, with the Centre's final approval process now in its last stage. Once cleared, the project is expected to significantly cut travel time between Pune and Bengaluru from the current 14-15 hours to just about 7 hours, offering a major boost to road connectivity.

Pune-Bengaluru Expressway Project Details

The proposed Pune-Bengaluru expressway will stretch nearly 700 km and will be built as a 6 to 8-lane high-speed corridor under the Bharatmala scheme. The total project cost is estimated between Rs 45,000 crore and Rs 50,000 crore.

The route will pass through Pune, Satara and Sangli in Maharashtra, before entering Karnataka via Belagavi, Vijayanagara and Davanagere, and finally reaching Bengaluru.

Pune-Bengaluru Travel Time Set to Reduce

At present, road travel between Pune and Bengaluru takes around 14 to 15 hours due to heavy traffic, bottlenecks and narrow stretches on existing highways.

With the new Pune-Bengaluru expressway, the travel time is expected to come down to around 7 hours, making the journey faster and more convenient.

Pune-Bengaluru Route to Ease Traffic and Logistics

The Pune-Bengaluru expressway is expected to ease congestion on current highways and provide a smoother route for both passenger vehicles and goods transport.

This will be particularly beneficial for the logistics sector, improving efficiency and reducing travel delays between the two cities.
