50 Women-Led Cafe Sanjeevini To Launch In Karnataka
In a nostalgic start to his 15th Budget speech, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah quoted the famous song "Aagadu Endu, Kailagadu Endu" from the late Dr Rajkumar's iconic movie "Bangarada Manushya." The Chief Minister's tribute to the legendary actor set the tone for a budget that focuses on uplifting rural Karnataka and empowering women.
With an expected budget outlay of approximately Rs 3.80 lakh crore, the budget's major allocation is anticipated to be directed towards the agriculture sector. This emphasis comes in light of the severe drought conditions that have gripped the southern state, threatening the livelihoods of farmers.

Additionally, in a move aimed at promoting women entrepreneurship and addressing the demand for nutritious and affordable food in rural areas, the Chief Minister announced the launch of 50 women-run cafes named "Cafe Sanjeevini" across the state. The project, costing Rs 7.50 crore, aims to bridge the gap in the demand and supply of healthy, hygienic, and traditional local cuisine in rural areas.

These cafes aim to bridge the gap in rural areas by providing healthy, hygienic, and affordable cooked food alongside traditional local cuisine. This program empowers women entrepreneurs, promotes local flavors, and tackles the accessibility of nutritious food in underserved communities.
The success of this budget will ultimately depend on its ability to translate promises into concrete action and deliver tangible benefits to the people. Nevertheless, Siddaramaiah's opening gambit demonstrates a keen understanding of his audience and sets a hopeful tone for the financial roadmap of Karnataka.
