32-Year-Old Man Arrested for Molesting Woman Near EcoWorld Tech Park in Marathahalli

In a swift breakthrough, the Whitefield Division Police arrested a 32-year-old private company employee, Srikanth, for allegedly assaulting and behaving indecently with a woman near EcoWorld Tech Park on April 30. The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. near the Marathahalli entrance of the tech park.

According to the police, the woman was walking near the entrance of the campus when the accused approached her on a motorcycle from behind, sexually assaulted her, sped past, and then shockingly returned to assault her again before fleeing the scene. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which helped the police zero in on the suspect.

The Marathahalli police had initially booked a case under Sections 74 (assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita based on the woman's complaint. At the time, the only lead was that the suspect was wearing a purple T-shirt.

Special teams were constituted by the Whitefield Division to trace the culprit. Investigators scoured footage from multiple CCTV cameras across the locality to track the movements of the bike and identify the suspect. Srikanth was eventually arrested following a detailed analysis of the surveillance footage and other technical inputs.

The incident had sparked outrage, drawing comparisons with a similar case reported from BTM Layout earlier in April, where a woman was sexually assaulted while walking home late at night. In that case, the Suddaguntepalya police arrested the accused, a cab driver named Santosh Daniel, from Kerala after a 10-day manhunt involving the review of over 300 CCTV recordings.

Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of women in the city and have urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities.
