25 Acres Of Land In NICE Road To Host Bengaluru's New 250-Metre High Skydeck,
The country's Silicon City is set to become even more beautiful with the construction of a 250-metre high Skydeck near NICE Road in Bengaluru. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that opposition leaders and BJP MLAs have agreed to allocate space for the Skydeck project. Addressing the media after all party meet at the Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said that the Skydeck project requires about 25 acres of land, which NICE Road currently has.
Agreement on Location

Opposition leader R. Shivakumar confirmed that all the elected representatives of Bengaluru, including R Ashoka, have accepted the location on NICE Road for the Skydeck.
Land Transfer Directions
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the Bangalore Development portfolio, revealed that the NICE administration has been directed to transfer around 200 acres to the state government as per a Supreme Court order. "According to the Supreme Court order, about 200 acres of land has to be transferred by the NICE administration to the government. So we have finalised the location on NICE Road. The Skydeck will be constructed there," said Shivakumar.
Initially, several locations were considered for the Skydeck, including NGEF land at Baiyappanahalli, a sandal soap factory near Yeshwantpur, Bangalore University's Jnanabharati campus, and land used for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's helicopter landing in 2022 at Kommaghatta. However, the 25 acres of land in Hemmigepur near NICE Road in the southwest region of Bangalore is almost finalised for the Skydeck, although no official announcement has been made yet.
Need for Further Discussion
While the exact location for the Skydeck has not been specified, Shivakumar mentioned that around 10 locations were considered for the project. Due to the height of the Skydeck, discussions with the Union Civil Aviation Ministry are necessary.
Strategic Location
The choice of NICE Road as the site for the Skydeck is strategic due to its accessibility for people traveling to Mysore and Kodagu, as well as other areas. Shivakumar noted that the access to NICE Road is planned to be improved after the construction of the Peripheral Ring Road.
A Major Tourist Attraction
The Skydeck project, estimated to cost Rs 850 crore, is expected to be a major attraction for tourists in Bengaluru. It will include several components such as a sky lobby, spectacular city panoramas, a theatre, a display hall, a special VIP section, and shopping lanes. Currently, Vidhana Soudha and Nehru Planetarium are the major tourist attractions in Bengaluru. Shivakumar believes that the Skydeck will address the city's need for more tourist attractions.
