21-Year-Old Woman Critical After Falling From Hotel Balcony in Bengaluru

A 21-year-old woman suffered critical injuries after falling from a hotel balcony in Bengaluru during the early hours of Sunday, moments after police arrived at the property following a complaint about loud noise.

The incident occurred at a hotel in AECS Layout, which falls under the jurisdiction of the HAL police station. According to police, a group of eight young people - four men and four women - had booked rooms at the hotel and were hosting a late-night gathering.

Residents living nearby reportedly contacted the 112 emergency helpline around 5 am, complaining of loud music and disturbance. Acting on the call, Hoysala police personnel reached the hotel and asked a few members of the group to come down to the reception area to note their details.

Police sources said that while this was taking place, one of the women, a resident of Kundalahalli, attempted to move out through the balcony of the hotel room. She allegedly tried to climb down using a pipe fixed to the exterior of the building but lost her balance and fell onto iron grills in the hotel compound below.

The woman sustained serious injuries to her head, hands and other parts of the body. Her friends immediately shifted her to a private hospital in Kundalahalli, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Hospital sources said she remains in a critical condition.

Following the incident, a case was registered at the HAL police station. Police officials visited the hotel, inspected the balcony area and recorded statements from those present at the scene. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the exact circumstances that led to the fall.

Responding to claims that police personnel demanded money during their visit to the hotel, officials denied the allegations. Police sources said the personnel involved were wearing body cameras and that there is no footage to support such claims. "There is no material to substantiate these allegations," a police official said.
