21-Year-Old Student Dies at Bangalore University Women’s Hostel, Authorities Probe

A 21-year-old second-year postgraduate student from Bangalore University was discovered dead in her room at the Ramabai Ambedkar Women's Hostel. The body was found hanging in her room on February 3.

he young woman, a resident of Hebbalaguppe village in HD Kote, Mysore district, reportedly took her own life by hanging herself.

Pavana, who was pursuing her MA in Kannada Studies, was discovered around noon on February 3 by some fellow students at the hostel. They immediately alerted the authorities. A death note was found, in which Pavana expressed feelings of betrayal, writing, "I trusted a friend and he cheated me. I am sorry, father, mother... I love you."

The authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the suicide. The SOCO team and local police visited the scene, and a case has been registered under UDR at the Gnanabharathi police station. The student's body was transported to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem, which will be conducted once her parents arrive in Bengaluru.

It is believed that Pavana committed the tragic act while the college was hosting a program, as she had left halfway through and returned to her hostel room. The precise motive behind her actions remains unclear, and police are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Gnanabharathi police have informed Pavana's family about the incident and are awaiting their arrival in Bengaluru for the post-mortem process. The community at Bangalore University is in shock over this devastating loss.
