No need for CBI probe into school rape case: Karnataka CM

ngalore, July 30: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said there was no requirement of a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the minor's rape case and the state police was competent to do the job itself.

Reacting to the demand of a CBI probe in the case, Siddaramaiah said the CBI couldn't be asked to look into every case and the state police was well-equipped to crack the case and book the culprits.

Bangalore Police Commissioner MN Reddy, who replaced Raghavendra Auradkar after protests broke out in the Silicon City a few weeks earlier in the wake of the shocking incident in a reputed school.

Reddi said the investigation of the case was at a crucial stage, adding that two persons, both gymnastics instructors of the Vibgyor High School, were responsible for the crime and had been arrested. The two staff members had allegedly raped a minor girl inside the school premises on July 3 when she had gone to the washroom.
