Meta is testing a new Facebook companion called 'Forum’, a separate app that turns Group discussions into Reddit-style threads. The Meta Forum app is currently limited to iPhone users in the US, but it aims to give Facebook communities a quieter, topic-led space for longer conversations.

Instead of endless Reels and photo posts, the Meta Forum app focuses on text-led discussions and threads. People sign in with their Facebook account, then see an organised view of their existing Groups. From there, users can browse, join, or participate without moving back and forth to the main Facebook app.

The Meta Forum app is built around Facebook Groups rather than public timelines. Every thread started in Forum links back to the matching Group on Facebook, and content appears in both places. Posts can show a nickname instead of a real name, although activity still links quietly to the person’s Facebook account in the background.

Inside the Meta Forum app, the home screen shows topic-based threads instead of trending viral posts. The interface highlights conversations that feel more like message boards, with replies nested in a Reddit-style layout. Meta says the focus is on clear, meaningful exchanges, rather than attention-grabbing headlines or clickbait-style posts.

One key element of the Meta Forum app is the 'Ask’ section, which uses Meta’s AI tools. When someone types a question, the AI scans posts and comments from across Facebook Groups. It then surfaces relevant answers and gives direct links to discussions where that information originally appeared.

The Meta Forum app also uses AI for Group management, supporting admins with moderation tasks. AI tools can highlight possible rule-breaking content and help keep discussions orderly. Profiles inside Forum stay light, displaying mainly Group activity rather than full timelines or personal details, which keeps attention on the shared topics.

The Meta Forum app keeps controls simple, with discovery tools to help people find fresh communities. Users can explore suggested Groups, jump into threads, or start new topics from the same place. The launch of the Meta Forum app follows “Instants”, a feature that borrows ideas from Snapchat and BeReal. Meta has also released Threads to challenge X (Twitter). Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly told teams that AI tools now let them develop and release new apps much faster than before.

For now, the Meta Forum app remains limited to iPhone users in the US, with no announced timeline for Android or other regions, including India. Meta has not shared details about a wider rollout, so Facebook Group members elsewhere must continue using standard Group features inside the main Facebook app.
