AI-Powered Search Enhancements

This feature is currently accessible to YouTube Premium members in the US, specifically for searches related to shopping, travel, or local activities. The aim is to provide users with a more curated and informative search experience.

YouTube is also broadening access to its conversational AI tool, which was previously available only to Premium users. In the upcoming days, this feature will be extended to select non-Premium users in the US as part of a wider test.

Conversational AI Tool Expansion

The tool enables users to ask follow-up questions, receive video recommendations, and even quiz themselves on educational content—all within the app. YouTube notes that it has been well-received among Premium users for exploring new topics and enhancing academic learning.

Additionally, YouTube is expanding its conversational AI chatbot introduced in 2023. This assistant allows viewers to inquire about a video and get suggestions for related content without leaving the video player. Initially exclusive to Premium members, it will soon be available to some non-Premium users in the US within weeks.

Updated Live Streaming Policies

In other developments, YouTube has revised its live streaming policies for users under 16. Starting from 22 July, those aged 13 to 15 can only live stream if an adult manager like a channel owner or editor is visibly present on camera throughout the session. If these rules are not adhered to, live chat will be disabled or streaming privileges revoked. Previously, users aged 13 and above could live stream without such restrictions.

YouTube's efforts reflect its commitment to enhancing user experience through innovative technology while ensuring safety measures for younger audiences. These updates aim to make content discovery more efficient and engaging while maintaining a secure environment for all users.
