Elon Musk's Grok AI Chatbot Unveils Customisable 3D Companions For Enhanced User Engagement

Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, has introduced a new feature called AI companions. Users can now engage with customisable 3D animated characters, such as a goth anime girl and a furry red panda named Bad Rudy, known for its sarcastic and vulgar persona. "This is pretty cool," Musk shared on X, highlighting the anime companion Ani, a blonde character in a black corset and fishnets.

The AI companion feature is currently in its soft launch phase. Musk mentioned that it will soon be easier to activate for Super AI subscribers. This addition seems aimed at enhancing user engagement and providing more personalisation options for paying users.

Grok is Musk's answer to competitors like Google and Meta in the AI race. xAI recently launched Grok 4, which Musk claims is one of the most advanced chatbots capable of solving nearly any query. "With respect to academic questions, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions," Musk stated during its launch.

Musk acknowledged that while Grok 4 might sometimes lack common sense and hasn't invented new technologies or discovered new physics yet, these are just matters of time. The development of Grok involved building their own data centre with 100,000 GPUs operational within 122 days.
