Who Is PVN Madhav? BJP Leader Set To Become New Andhra Pradesh Unit Chief

PVN Madhav, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), is poised to become the new president of the Andhra Pradesh BJP unit. The election process concluded at the state BJP office, with Madhav being the only candidate to submit nomination papers for this position.

Madhav's candidacy received full backing from state council members during the election process. Prominent figures such as BJP national joint general secretary Siva Prakash Ji, Union Minister Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma, MP CM Ramesh, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, and several MLAs were present to show their support.

Nomination Process and Support

On Monday, Madhav submitted five sets of nomination papers to PC Mohan, an election observer and Karnataka Rajya Sabha member, and Paka Venkata Satyanarayana, the election officer and MP. With no other nominations filed, it is anticipated that Madhav will be officially declared as the new AP BJP chief soon.

The scrutiny of nominations was conducted between 1 pm and 2 pm on Monday. This was followed by a withdrawal period from 2 pm to 4 pm. The current state president and Rajamahendravaram MP, Daggubati Purandeswari, is expected to hand over responsibilities to Madhav.

Background and Experience

Madhav has a rich history with the BJP and its affiliated organisations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). His father, P V Chalapathi Rao, also served as an MLC. The family has maintained a long-standing connection with the party. After Andhra Pradesh's bifurcation, Madhav represented BJP in the Legislative Council as an MLC.
