Tirupati Temple Prepares To Serve 8-9 Lakh Laddus Daily With New Ghee Vendor
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has committed to reinstating the quality of laddus by partnering with Karnataka Milk Federation for ghee supply.
Addressing concerns over the quality of offerings, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has assured devotees that the original quality of laddus will be promptly reinstated with the introduction of a new ghee vendor, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). J. Syamala Rao, TTD's Executive Officer, emphasized, "There will be no more compromise on the quality of the laddus and the quality of ghee used (to make it)."
This assurance comes as a significant commitment to maintaining the sanctity and standard of prasadam at the revered Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala.

In light of recent quality issues, the TTD had to temporarily stop the use of cow ghee and other milk-based products in the making of various prasadams offered to the deity. This measure was part of a broader review aimed at ensuring the highest quality standards for all offerings made at the temple. The decision to halt the use of these products underscores the TTD's dedication to addressing and swiftly rectifying any concerns related to prasadam preparation.
Ensuring Ample Supplies for Brahmotsavam
With the annual Brahmotsavam festival approaching, scheduled from October 4 to 12, the temple administration is taking no chances in preparing for the expected influx of lakhs of pilgrims. TTD is proactively stocking up on KMF's renowned Nandini brand ghee, ensuring that ample supplies are available to meet the demands of the festival. This strategic planning is crucial for the temple, especially considering the record attendance of over 73,000 pilgrims on a single day recently. Andhra Pradesh's minister, Nara Lokesh Naidu, confidently stated, "A new vendor, KMF, is in place to supply top quality ghee. We don't see any issues," highlighting the government's support in maintaining the festival's grandeur.
Muni Ratnam, the head of the temple's 'Potu' kitchen, revealed that during the Brahmotsavam, the temple maintains a considerable stockpile of 8-9 lakh laddus each day to cater to the devotees. "Sufficient stocks, including ghee to prepare the laddus round the clock, are being procured," he confirmed, showing the meticulous planning that goes into ensuring every devotee's needs are met during such significant events. The TTD anticipates around 7-8 lakhs devotees during the festival, and preparations are in full swing to ensure a smooth and fulfilling spiritual experience for all.
Improvements and Traffic Advisories
Following feedback and complaints regarding the quality of raw materials used in the preparation of free meals, or "anna prasadam", a TTD panel identified certain deficiencies. As a result, all supplies have been temporarily suspended while new vendors are being sought to ensure the highest quality standards are met. The TTD has also committed to taking daily feedback from devotees, indicating a responsive and adaptive approach to managing temple offerings and facilities.
In anticipation of the heavy flow of pilgrims during the Brahmotsavams, especially on the day of Garuda Seva on October 8, the TTD has issued traffic advisories to ensure a smooth and orderly pilgrimage. Pilgrims are encouraged to leave their private vehicles in Tirupati and use the buses provided by APSRTC to avoid congestion. Parking arrangements have been meticulously planned, with specific areas designated for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, ensuring a hassle-free visit for all devotees.
The TTD's comprehensive approach to managing both the spiritual and logistical aspects of the temple's operations illustrates a deep commitment to providing a serene and enriching experience for every visitor. By ensuring the quality of prasadams, managing supplies efficiently, and facilitating smooth traffic flow, the TTD aims to uphold the sanctity and tradition of the Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala, making every visit memorable and spiritually fulfilling.
