Andhra Pradesh Assembly Session Today: N Chandrababu Govt To Table Budget For Last Quarter Of FY24-25

The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to present the budget for the final four months of the 2024-25 fiscal year in the Legislative Assembly. The Business Advisory Committee will determine how long this session will last. After receiving approval from the State Cabinet, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav will introduce the budget on Monday.

Sources suggest that the budget's total outlay could range between Rs 2.7 lakh crore and Rs 2.9 lakh crore. This budget aims to address expenditures for the last quarter of the current fiscal year. It is anticipated that allocations will be made for welfare programmes and promises outlined in the election manifesto, including the Super Six guarantees.

Focus on Welfare and Infrastructure

Provisions are expected for the Deepam 2.0 scheme, which was launched on October 31 during Diwali. Significant funds are also likely to be allocated for key infrastructure projects such as Amaravati and Polavaram. These projects are crucial for the state's development and require substantial financial support.

In preparation for upcoming elections, the previous administration led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had introduced a vote-on-account with an outlay of Rs 2.86 lakh crore. This included a sum of Rs 1,09,052 crore approved for April to July.

Ordinance and Budget Allocations

An ordinance was issued on July 31, allowing funds allocation from August 1 to November 30 by the TDP-led NDA government. This ordinance, known as Andhra Pradesh Appropriation (Vote-on-Account No. 2) Ordinance, 2024, had an outlay of Rs 1.29 lakh crore covering grants for 40 government departments.

Besides discussing the budget, several important bills are expected to be introduced during this Assembly session. These include repealing existing laws like the Land Grabbing Act (Prohibition) 1982 and AP Judicial Preview Act while proposing new legislation such as Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Bill, 2024.

The upcoming budget session holds significant importance as it not only addresses financial allocations but also sets a legislative agenda with potential impacts on governance and development within Andhra Pradesh.
