Gujarat: Youth arrested for allegedly raping, killing 20-year-old girl

Ahmedabad, Jul 16: Police arrested a 19-year-old youth for allegedly killing a 20-year-old girl after raping her at a city hotel in Ranip area, a police official said.

"Today, we arrested Krishna Jayesh Osaiya (19) from Sabarmati area near Ranip area of the city, for raping and kiling a 20-year-old girl," police inspector B M Panariya of Ranip police station said.

Yesterday, the accused allegedly raped and later killed the girl her at Hotel King Palace in Ranip area of the city, the official said.

The girl, who was a third-year student of a city-based college, was staying with her family at the Chandkheda area, he said. Police found her body from a room in the hotel and began probing the case, after which they nabbed the accused today, he said.

The police recovered CCTV footage from the crime spot, which showed that the girl and the youth had been there, the official said. "We nabbed the youth and later registered a case of rape and murder under Section 376 and Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code respectively," he said.
