Narayan Sai and Asaram Bapu
Ahmedabad, Oct 21: Narayan Sai, an accused of rape case, left his father Asaram Bapu behind in duping police. Gujarat cops till Monday, Oct 21 failed to trace Sai who has been missing ever since the rape charges were filed against him and his father by two Surat-based sisters. A local court in Surat, meanwhile, is scheduled to hear Sai's anticipatory bail plea.

Sai has been evading arrest for more than two weeks. However, his father could not escape from facing the wrath of law as his effort to go underground was spoilt by police within three days. Jodhpur Police had arrested Asaram from his Indore ashram in Madhya Pradesh in connection with another sexual assault case.

The spiritual guru and his entire family came under police scanner when a 16-year-old girl accused Asaram of sexually assaulting her inside his ashram near Jodhpur, Rajasthan on Aug 15.

A local court in Suirat will hear Narayan Sai's bail plea today

The 72-year-old self-proclaimed godman then had gone missing. But Jodhpur police, in a midnight swoop, took him under arrest on Sept 1. Initially he was taken into police custody and later the septuagenarian was sent to judicial custody and denied bail.

On the contrary, his son managed to roam free. Despite several raids at different places across the nation, Gujarat police failed to trace Sai so far. A joint team of Delhi and Gujarat Police had conducted raids at Asaram's ashrams at Rohini, Najafgarh, Jafarpur Kalan and on Ridge Road.

The sexual assault complaint against Asaram and Sai was filed at Jehangirpura Police Station in Surat. According to police sources, the team from Surat landed in the national capital after tracing Sai's location to the city while intercepting his mobile phone locations.

Police, however, could not make any headway in tracing the whereabouts of Sai, who they said, was frequently changing his location. There are apprehensions that he might have slipped into Haryana from Delhi.

Sources said Sai has been frequently switching his SIM cards and mobile phones. He has so far changed around 17 SIM cards and mobile phones, the sources said.

In their police complaint, the two sisters hurled serious allegations against the father-son duo. While the elder sister accused Asara of raping her between 1997 and 2006 during the time she had been living in his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city.

The younger sister had filed a complaint against Sai, accusing him of repeated sexual assault between 2002 and 2005 when she was living in their Surat ashram.

Meanwhile, media reports claimed that one of the two sisters, during police interrogation, also informed thatmany rape victims in Asaram's ashram were taken to a hospital for 'forced abortions'.

According to reports, Ahmedabad police will now investigate about the hospital in question and the doctors involved in a serious crime. Another report said that Asaram's Ahmedabad ashram's administrator Dhruviben (one of the accused in the FIR) used to take rape victims to a hospital for abortions purpose.
