Kakinada,

The
CPI(ML)Liberation
party
today
planned
to
hold
a
nationwide
stir,
seeking
the
scrapping
of
SEZ
Act
of
2005,
''which
is
detrimental
to
the
interest
of
small
and
marginal
farmers,
landless
poor
and
the
agricultural
labourers.''
A resolution to organise the agitation in the form of dharnas and protest rallies across the country, was unanimously adopted at the state-level conference against the SEZ Act held here under the joint aegis of All India Agricultural Labour Union, Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Coolie Sangh and AP Kisan Sabha. Calling upon the Left parties to join hands for building a strong movement to usher in a new political order, bringing cheers to the poor and landless peasants.
The conference blamed all the political parties for assenting nod to the SEZ Act in the Parliament, unanimously undermining the sufferings of the people. Describing the SEZs as the 'Special Exploitation Zones,' the conference criticised the state and Central governments for handing over large tracts of land at a throwaway price to the corporate bodies and multi-national companies by displacing the peasants.
The CPI(ML) Liberation party would not rest till the SEZ Act was scrapped and the lands restored to the small and marginal farmers, the resolution added.
All India Agricultural Labour Union President Rameswar Prasad alleged that the UPA government at the Centre and the state governments were showing undue haste in implementing the SEZ Act, taking away the fertile lands from the small and marginal farmers to benefit the corporate companies.
Several other leaders, including party Politburo members D P Bakshi and N Murthy, and AP Kisan Sabha State convener Harinath, vowed to intensify the stir against the SEZ Act to highligh the plight of displaced under the Kakinada SEZ in Andhra Pradesh.
