K'taka to clear dues in farm loan waiver scheme by month-end
Bangalore, Mar 11: The Karnataka Government will clear by the month-end all the dues to be paid to various cooperative institutions in the State after the previous JD(S)-BJP coalition Government had written off farm loans up to Rs 25,000, Finance Secretary Sreenivasa Murthy said today.
Speaking to UNI here, he said the total burden on the exchequer owing to the waiver was to the tune of about Rs 1,850 crore. While it had released Rs 500 crore towards loan waiver in July, the rest would be released to the cooperative institutions by the end of this month.
Reiterating that the financial position of Karnataka was good, he said that despite the previous Government's ban on the sale of arrack and online lottery, the revenue collection was not affected.
