Ginger included in National Agriculture Insurance Scheme
Shimla, Jun 12: The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to include ginger crop of Sirmaur district in the National Agriculture Insurance Scheme on experimental basis to fulfill the long pending demands of the farmers, a government spokesman today said.
The scheme, which provides compensation to the farmers of the state due to national disasters, would continue during the current kharif season for maize, paddy and potato crops, he said in a release here.
The spokesman said the last date for insuring crops for those farmers who were interested in raising loan for their maize, paddy, potato and ginger crops during the current kharif season was September 30 and added that the scheme was mandatory for them.
The scheme was voluntary for those farmers who were not raising loan and the last date for insuring their crops was July 31, next month.
