Fruits of globalisation should reach all: Antony

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 9: Defence Minister A K Antony today said benefits of globalisation should reach every section of the society, be it the poor, farmers or the middle class.

''Today the benefits of globalisation is not reaching all sections of the society,'' he told a function yesterday in which he was presented the 'Asianet Malayali-2007' award. Noting that every country had its own globalisation agenda, the former Kerala Chief Minister said India should have to decide on its own agenda of globalisation. ''It is a fact that every country is on the path of globalisation. We have to agree to this reality,'' he said.

Chief Minister V S Achutanandan, who presented the award to Mr Antony, said globalisation had its impact in the country and ''we are deviating from our tradition and culture.'' Stating that the phenomenon was at its peak, he called for giving more importance to agriculture, which was the basis of all development.
