Heavy rains lash India

Bangalore, Sept 3: Rain and thundershowers occurred at most places over West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Some of the other places to receive heavy rains include Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram , Tripura, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamilnadu and Kerala.

A few places over east Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and a few isolated places over Uttarakhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa also received heavy rainfalls.

However, the rest of the country remained dry mainly. Weather conditions are likely to remain the same in the next few days, with frequent thundershowers and heavy rains. Nevertheless, the next 48 hours would witness reduced rainfall over Bihar and Jharkhand, barring West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Odisha.
