Sonia Gandhi to leave for medical check-up in USA
The 67-year-old leader was rushed to the AIIMS from the Parliament House after she fell ill in the middle of a debate on the Food Security Bill, one of her pet projects. She was suffering an adverse effect of medication.
Sonia Gandhi was waiting for the important bills to be passed before leaving for the health check-up
Sources in the Congress said that Gandhi was waiting for the food bill and other important legislation, like the land acquisition bill, to get passed before leaving for the health check-up, which is long overdue. She had undergone a surgery in August 2011 and had given charge of running the party to its top leadership. Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi had played a significant role during that time.
Gandhi had also undergone a medical examination abroad in September last year.
