Bhatkal arrest: Politicians elated, more agencies may seek custody
New Delhi, Aug 29: Politicians across party lines have congratulated the intelligence agencies for catching hold of Indian Mujahideen (IM) founder Yasin Bhatkal, who is sought for a number of terror attacks across the country over the last few years.
Bhatkal was nabbed from Gorkahpur near the Indo-Nepal border on Thursday morning.
Parties like the BJP and NCP congratulated the agencies and hoped that more links will be unearthed through this breakthrough and the menace of terrorism will be controlled.

Meanwhile, reports said Bhatkal, who was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday, is likely to be moved to New Delhi. He is currently under the Bihar Police's custody. Agencies, including the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), probing terror attacks across the country are also likely to seek the IM leader's custody. Bhatkal and Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi, his aide who was also arrested, are likely to be produced in a Bihar court later on Thursday.
TV reports later said that another aide of Bhatkal, Waqas had also been arrested.
Akhtar was reportedly sought by the Maharashtra ATS for planting bombs on JM Road in Pune last year.
