60-year-old professor found dead, cause of death unknown

Roorkee: IIT professor found dead

Uttarakhand, Aug 29: A senior professor at the IIT Roorkee was found dead in his flat here on Thursday. The police found the professor's body with his throat slit.

60-year-old Arun Kumar, who was a senior professor in the Electrical Science Computer Department, was found dead by his maid servant lying in a pool of blood in his flat within the campus premises, Haridwar SSP Rajiv Swaroop said.

The police found the professor's body with his throat slit.

Kumar lived in a flat alone ever since his wife died a few years ago. He has three daughters out of which two are settled abroad and one is in Gurgaon. The professor was apparently going through depression after the death of his wife, who died a few years back.

The police are investigating the case from all angles and are not ruling out the possibility of murder or a suicide. The exact cause of the death is still not known.

More details are awaited on the case.
