Mumbai still safe city for women? TV actor beaten up as crowd watches
Mumbai, Aug 28: In yet another blow to the Maximum City's image as a 'safe place for women', three men assaulted a woman television actor in a suburb after she tried to stop them from running away with her purse.
What is even more worrying is that the incident took in front of a small crowd but nobody came forward to stop the men. The victim was identified as Loveleen Kaur, a 20-something actor who is a popular face on the small screen.

Loveleen was travelling in an auto-rickshaw when one of the men tried to steal her purse. She jumped out of the autorickshaw at once to chase the thief but the later, joined by two other men, soon retaliated and started beating her. Loveleen suffered minor injuries.
Police officers at a nearby outpost ran to the spot after fearing the actor's cry and caught hold of two of the culprits. The third was yet to be traced.
Last week, a 22-year-old photojournalist was gangraped inside an abandoned factory in southern Mumbai, raising a storm across the country and also in the Parliament.
