SC orders CBI to probe last year's clashes outside B'lore court

New Delhi, Aug 27: The Supreme Court (SC) overturned a Karnataka High Court order on Tuesday and ordered a CBI investigation into incidents of clashes last year outside a Bangalore court , while mining baron G Janardhana Reddy was being produced.

A bench that was headed by Chief Justice Sathasivam, said that CBI will carry out the investigations within six months. The bench had set aside the high court order by which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was ordered to probe the incident.

SC ordered the SIT to hand over the documents and other materials necessary for the probe, to the CBI, so that they can carry out the investigation.

On March 2, 2012, several media personnel and police officers were injured when they were attacked by a group of unruly lawyers. The incident took place in a Bangalore civil court premise when Reddy was to be produced in front of the court.

The advocates had targeted journalists who were present at the premise to cover Reddy's appearance before court and had even objected to their presence inside the designated court room.
