Public might lose control if I am arrested: Asaram Bapu

New Delhi, Aug 27: Self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu, who is facing serious allegation of sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl, has tagged the entire case as a 'conspiracy' against him.

On Tuesday, the controversial spiritual guru, Asaram reportedly said that public might lose 'control' if he is forcibly arrested.

In an order to gain public's trust, he even said that he will "give up food and water" if he gets arrested.

In the sexual assault case investigations, the Jodhpur police has reached his Indore ashram to interrogate him.

Reportedly, an alert was issued at all airports to ensure that Asaram doesn't escape.

Yesterday, the Jodhpur police issued summons against 72-year-old Asaram over sexual assault charges and asked him to appear in court within four days.

In her statement, the girl said that Asaram had threatened her from speaking out against her.

Meanwhile, Asaram has claimed his innocence over the issue and said that the girl is like his "daughter".

The police has booked him under Sections 376, 342, 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including the Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Sections 23 and 26 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
