Madras Cafe mints in crores, proves people wrong
Mumbai, Aug 27: Quite contrary to the controversies surrounding the movie 'Madras Cafe', it was accepted well by the audience in its opening week. In fact, many have called it an "intelligent film".
The film witnessed a lot of anti-sloganeering in Tamil Nadu, especially in Chennai, alleging that it showed Tamils in a negative light and that LTTE was portrayed as a terrorist group.

However, minting approximately Rs 20 crore in three days, the film proved everyone wrong. It not only managed to impress the audience, but also had a block buster beginning."
'Madras Cafe' collected approximately Rs 20.42 crore to Rs 20.67 crore net in its opening weekend. On Friday, it earned Rs 5.17 crore, Saturday Rs 7 crore and on Sunday Rs 8.25 crore to Rs 8.50 crore," said Taran Adarsh, trade analyst.
Co-produced by John Abraham and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the film stars John Abraham in the lead, with co-stars Nargis Fakiri and Raashi Khanna.
