Mumbai rape: Fifth accused arrested
Mumbai, Aug 25: The fifth accused in the Mumbai rape case has been arrested by the Mumbai crime branch. The oldest of the lot and the most depraved, Qasim Bengali, was the most depraved who sexually assaulted the woman twice.
Siraj Rahman (25) was the third accused and was nabbed from Mumbra area on Saturday. The leads came with the arrest of second accused Vijay Jadhav, who confessed about the crime to the Mumbai police. Both the accused had been sent to police custody till August 30. The first accused Chand Babu Sattar Shaikh alias Mohammed Abdul (19) was arrested within hours of the incident.
As per the public prosecutor, the woman is still recuperating in the hospital and is still not out of trauma completely. The victim was gangraped on an assignment to Shakti Mills, while her colleague was tied and beaten by the culprits.
