Karnataka: Nobody will comment on my parents now, says Ramya
Bangalore, Aug 24: Actor-politician Ramya, who won the Lok Sabha by-poll from Mandya by a margin of over 66,000 votes, chose the happy hour to reply to her detractors. The Congress candidate told reporters amid celebrations that nobody would pass remarks on her parents now.
Ramya, who defeated former JD(S) MLA Puttaraju, was stung by JD(S)'s M Srinivas's words that she did not know who her father was. The former JD(S) MLA had also mocked Ramya during an election rally, calling her a test-tube baby.

The personal attack was also made at a time when Ramya was mourning the death of her foster father R T Narayan. Srinivas drew flak for the comment. The Mandya Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer for the by-poll issued him a show-cause notice and forced to tender an apology.
The Congress also bagged the Bangalore Rural seat where D K Suresh defeated JD(S)'s Anitha Kumaraswamy by over a lakh votes.
Political observers felt that with these losses in its own stronghold, the JD(S) could now tilt in favour of the BJP ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections. JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, a former chief minister, resigned as the assembly Opposition leader and state party chief after the twin defeats.
