In an incident of highway robbery, a woman contable gangraped

Latehar, Aug 24: A woman constable was allegedly gangraped by a group of highway robbers at the National Highway- 45 late on Wednesday night.

The woman constable was raped as she was returning from Ranchi to Latehar with her parents in a private car. This incident is said to further bring down the number of vehicles moving on this disturbed route between Ranchi and Daltonganj.

The locals here fear to venture out in the dark as this is a

infested region.

The district police have been carrying out intensified raids with regards to this case to nab the accused.Latehar supritendent of police, Micheal S Raj said: "We expect to nab the culprits involved in this shameful act very soon. A separate team of police officials are working round the clock to ensure this."

The woman constable later lodged an FIR at the Latehar police station on Thursday and an investigation is going on.

The SP said that this was the first such highway robbery incident that outraged the modesty of a woman.
