Air-India passenger called an 'idiot' on board by in-flight TV
Mumbai, Aug 24: One has heard of unruly passengers and even rude airline staff, but the TV on the flight being rude and calling you an idiot is something that is unheard of.
On a recent Air India London-Mumbai flight, a passenger got the shock of her life when she was called an idiot and was asked to low low by the in-flight entertainment system.
Five hours into the flight, the woman passenger who was seated in the economy class of the flight, wanted to watch a movie on the entertainment system, which failed to respond. She then continued to press the buttons when suddenly the screen was on.
The passenger was aghast and complained to the cabin crew who in turn informed the commander. The commander then came and took a look and apologised to the passenger. The lady however took a picture of the screen with the message as proof.
One does not know how can such an incident occur. Some of the airline sources said that this must be the handiwork of a disgruntled staff as the message settings of the in- flight entertainment system is maintained by the ground staff of engineers or technicians.
When Air India was quizzed about the incident, they denied the fact and said that the message was a subtitle from a Hindi movie that the passenger was watching and not a message from the staff. However the incident has been escalated to higher officials who will look into the matter.
