Alleged poacher shot dead by guards at NDA

Nagpur, Aug, 23: A trespasser, alleged to be a poacher, was shot dead at the National Defence Academy (NDA) here on Friday morning.

The man who was shot was accompanied by four others. When they were asked to stop, they opened fire at the guards, which lead to an exchange of gun shots between them. One of the poachers was shot while the others escaped.

The incident is being viewed as a major security breach in defence training campuses. Many such defence training campuses have been on the terror groups radar for sometime now. The NDA has been under extra vigilance since intelligence agencies gave their inputs on possible terror threats last month.

The prestigious NDA is a joint service academy of the armed forces, where cadets of all the three armed forces train together before joining their respective services.
