100-year-old woman suffers from Alzheimer's , remembers only Bachchan

Mumbai, Aug 22: Though she may be 100-year-old and may suffer from Alzheimer's, but there is one face that she has not forgotten till date, that of actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Bernadine D'souza who turned 100 on August 18 suffers from Alzheimer's disease and does not remember anyone, not even her family members. The only name she remembers is of Amitabh Bachchan.

So to make her 100th birthday special, her family decided to send in a request to the actor himself, asking him if he could send in a birthday greeting to her. They were surprised when the actor's secretary replied the very next day and on Saturday sent a DVD with a message from Big B to their house.

In the video Amitabh Bachchan said: "Hello Mrs Bernadine Dsouza. I am Amitabh Bachchan. I have come here on a very special day to wish you a very happy birthday. You are going to be 100 years old. This is fantastic. I wish you all the good health, all the love and affection from me."

Later on Big B spoke of the incident on his account on Twitter, Facebook and his blog on August 19. He wrote, "A well wisher turns 100 years today 18th August .. but ... she suffers from Alzheimer's, and the only name she remembers is mine ..her family wanted me to do a video wish for her .. I did .. it has been most satisfying to receive her response.

He also tweeted the family's response to the entire incident.
