Heavy rainfall in various parts of the country

Bangalore, Aug 20:Southwest monsoon was heavy over Gangetic West Bengal and very active over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and coastal Karnataka.

Rain and thundershowers occurred at most places over the Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha and at several places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Jharkhand. Some of the other places to have received heavy rainfall include Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana and isolated places over Sub­Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir. However, weather remained mainly dry over the rest part of the country.

Rain and thundershower are likely to continue in the above-mentioned areas in the next three-days. Heavy to very heavy rain would occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.
