AP: YSR Congress party leader Vijayamma to fast unto death from Aug 19

Hyderabad, Aug 15: Y S R Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma will go on indefinite hunger strike from August 19 in Vijayawada protesting the congress decision over state (AP) bifurcation.

The decision was announced by Mysoora Reddy, senior party leader in the press conference in Hyderabad on Thursday.

"The indefinite fast is aimed at highlighting the failure of the Center to do justice to all regions in the process of division of the state and conducting in an authoritarian manner by taking unilateral decisions which are affecting the people of one region", he said.

Vijayamma, wife of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy.

Y S Vijayamma found herself at the forefront of politics after the tragic and sudden demise of her husband YS Rajashekar Reddy in 2009.

Earlier in 2009, Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Chandrasekhar Rao began a hunger strike demanding a separate Telangana state.
