Sindhurakshak explosion: Navy orders probe

Mumbai
Mumbai, Aug 14: Following the fire and explosion on the Navy's pet submarine INS Sindhurakshak, the Navy has ordered a board of inquiry to probe into the cause of the fire. While there is still no news of the 18 personnel who went down with the vessel, there are meek chances of their survival.

An explosion, followed by a fire onboard the vessel is yet to be investigated; but sources say that it might have been caused due to hydrogen gas leak from the batterey, which triggered the torpedos, resulting in the disaster.

Fire tenders from the Naval dockyard as well as the Mumbai fire brigade had been pressed into action immediately. The Navy has sought help from the fire brigade for the probe.
