K'taka: Flag hoisting made compulsory in govt offices from I-Day

Compulsory flag hoisting from Aug 15
Bangalore, Aug 11: The Karnataka state government has directed to all panchayat raj institutions (gram, taluk and zilla panchyats) asking them to hoist national flag every day starting from August 15th this year in a bid to create awareness on the importance of these local bodies in nation-building activity.

The national flag, a symbol of faith, pride and national prestige should be hoisted from all gram panchayat offices, taluk panchayat offices and zilla panchayat offices with respect and dignity, says the circular.

H K Patil, minister for rural development and panchayat raj has given a strict instructions to all the authorities to follow the order.

If the flag post exists, the same can be used, if not the new one can built. The flags should be purchased from Khadi bhandars and the people hoisting it should be trained properly under the guidance of physical education teachers in government schools near by, he said.
