BJP leader Arun Jaitley detained at Jammu airport

Bangalore, Aug 11: Senior BJP member and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha

has been detained at Jammu airport today.

Jaitley was about to visit the violence hit area of Kishtwar region in Jammu.

The BJP and some other political parties have announced a shutdown in Jammu on Saturday in protest against the clashes.

The clashes between the two communities took place on Friday after the Eid prayers when a group of people attacked another section of people, raising pro-independence slogans in Kuleed area of Kishtwar, leading to tension.

Mobs torched more than 80 shops, a petrol pump, an oil tanker, some police and fire service vehicles and the office of the chief Education officer.

Hardline Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani has also announced a Valley-wide shutdown to protest the Kishtwar clashes.
