Kerala: Newborn baby burnt and buried alive
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 5: In a crime that goes beyond the definition of inhumanity, a mother set her newly born baby on fire, soon after giving birth.
Suma (24) and her mother Kumari (46) of a tribal colony in Thiruvananthapuram were arrested after locals lodged a missing complaint to the Nedumangad police.

The baby was allegedly burnt as the mother was unwed and feared public shame. Police exhumed the body of the baby, wrapped in black cloth, from near Suma's house. The post-mortem report suggested that the baby was burnt soon after it was born and was then buried when he was still alive.
Police is investigating the matter and interrogating the mother-daughter duo for the exact reason behind such a heinous act. "We can take a decision only when we come to know about the entire thing. There might be other people attached to the crime," said one of the senior officers.
