Bangalore, Aug 3: OneIndia brings some of the highlights of the week between July 28 and August 3.

All it started with the much awaited announcement, bifurcation of Telangana from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Congress announced a separate state for Telanagana and made Hyderabad as the joint capital for both Telangana and Seemandhra region for next ten years. Some rejoices over the news and some hit out the news. MLA's, MLC's and MP's went on a mass resignation. While Darjeeling witnessed many protest from GJM calling for separate Gorkhaland state and even Assam witnessed protest over Bodoland and also grenade bomb blast in Paltan bazar where one was killed. With all these protests , Tihar inmates got a chance to celebrate as the jail gets its new FM radio station. Then comes the most controversial news from Uttar Pradesh, Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav suspends IAS officer Durga Shakti where she raised her voice against sand mafia and illegal construction of Mosque. Trinamool Congress wins the majority seats in local body elections in West Bengal. Delhi court convicts Shahzad Ahmed in Batle house encounter, sentencing him for life term. India U-16 team wins the SAAF U-16 football tournament in Nepal. US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden got a temporary asylum in Russia for 1 year. IPL spot fixing case, Delhi police names Dawood Ibrahim and made Sreesanth to land in more trouble. Lastly, Indian cricket team took 4-0 lead against Zimbabwe.
