Gujarat eateries plan to name snacks after UPA scams

Ahmedabad, July 26: The Gujarat hotel federation has decided to extend its support for the owner of the Mumbai eatery, Aditi Restaurant, which was targetted by Congress workers earlier this week for criticising the UPA government's policy in its food bill receipts. The receipts had the following words printed on them: "As per UPA govt eating money (2G, coal, CWG scam) is a necessity and eating food in AC restaurants is a luxury".

Members of the federation, Gujarat Rajya Hotel Federation (GRHF) are even planning to name some of their dishes after scams that have been exposed during the regime of the UPA government, a Times of India report said.

The GRHF has over 6,000 members across Gujarat.

Its members believe naming snacks and drinks after snacks will be a fitting reply to what was done against Srinivas Setty, the owner of the Mumbai eatery. It was reopened on Tuesday.

So next time, one gets into a restaurant in Gujarat, he or she could see menu cards mentioning items after 2G, CWG, Coalgate and several other such scams. The hoteliers believe that such protest could make the Centre remove the new service tax and help them to save losses.
