Aam Aadmi Party to launch Karnataka unit on Saturday
AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal will preside over the function and freedom fighter H S Doraiswamy will attend the launch at Indiranagar at 4 pm. The event will be held at New Horizon School, 100 ft Road, Indiranagar.
The AAP's vision is to create a system where the political leaders we elect and place in the Parliament are directly responsible to the voters who elected them. A free India where the power of governance and rights of democracy will be in the hands of the people of India.
The party does not have a central high command. The party structure follows a bottom to top approach where the council members elect the executive body and also recall it.
The AAP says that it will function with full financial transparency. Every single rupee collected by donations to run the party will be publicly declared on the party's website and all expenditures will also be declared on the website.
The AAP was formally launched on November 26, 2012 and since then has exposed politicians and corporate bodies. It has fought against Delhi government on water and electricity charges.
The party's aim is for 1. Jan Lokpal legislation; 2. Right to Reject; 3. Right to Recall; 4. Political decentralisation and 5. measures to restrain rising prices in "critical commodities" such as fuel, energy, water and food.
