Another runway crash in USA, 10 suffer minor injury

The incident occurred when the Southwest Flight 345 was landing from Nashville around 5.40 pm. The aircraft skidded down the runway on its nose and came to rest in the grass area. The passengers were evacuated through emergency slides and the aircraft stopped about halfway down the runway.
A passenger later said that the accident had a strong impact and they feared that the plane could have broken into two. A total of 150 people were in the flight. Apart from the ten injured passengers, an official underwent heat exhaustion and had to be treated.
On members of the aircraft crew getting injured, while one source said three flight attendants were reportedly hurt, another source said the number was six.
Initially, it was said that a possible nose gear problem could have caused the mishap, but later it was corrected and said that no such issues were noted after the air controller tapes were checked. A probe was ordered into the incident.
Last month, three people were killed while over 180 were injured after an Asiana jetliner crashed on the runway in San Francisco.
