Afghanistan
Kabul, July 22: Twenty-two Taliban militants have surrendered in the western Afghan province of Herat, the provincial governor said.

"Two groups of Taliban, consisting of 22 people, renounced violence and joined the government-backed peace and reconciliation process in Herat on Sunday afternoon," Seyyed Fazlullah Wahhidi told Xinhua.

The militants were active in Shindand and Injil districts, he said.
