16 of family, driver killed in mishap in Bijapur

Bijapur, July 22: Seventeen people, including 16 of a family, were killed on Monday when the jeep they were travelling in collided head-on with a private bus near Chikka Sindagi, 50 kms from here, on the national highway, a senior police official said.

The mishap took place when the victims were on their way to Bijapur from Gulbarga, District Superintendent of Police Ajay Hilory said.

Several bus passengers also suffered minor injuries in the mishap and were treated as outpatients at Sindagi, he said.
